Aztech Mountain Explorers: Peter Whitcomb

Our goal was twofold: find Narwhals, the elusive “unicorn of the sea,” and find solitude in the barren and vast Arctic.  We did both.

My dad gave me the adventure bug.  One of the greatest fortunes of my life has been exploring the world with my father. We have scaled the highest peak in Kenya, skied peaks in the Alps, and hiked and climbed all over the US, but our greatest adventure was a self-supported two week sea kayak trip through the Arctic Ocean waters off of Baffin Island. Our goal was twofold: find Narwhals, the elusive “unicorn of the sea,” and find solitude in barren and vast Artic. We did both, but immersing ourselves in one of the last truly unspoiled swaths of wilderness on earth was the ultimate reward.

Peter Whitcomb, Sporting Goods buyer Amazon.com, all around great guy.
