Aztech Mountain Explorers: Nicholas Griffin

When  you visit a country for the first time, you feel the need to tick familiar boxes.  Luckily this was my fifth trip to Peru, so I got to dig a little deeper past Cuzco, Nazca, Machu Picchu.  These pictures were taken on the Ausangate trail.  You can find higher peaks, tougher walks but I’ve never done anything that combined such solitude and beauty.  If I see trails of people, I always feel connected.  I ask myself the dumb questions:  are they going where I’m going?  Are they going faster than I’m going?  It’s only when I’m on a trail like Ausangate and turn and survey mile after empty mile that my mind feels free.
