Artist Spotlight: Simon Beck

Simon Beck has spent much of the last decade traveling throughout the Alps leaving behind in his footsteps bold, vast, precise, geometric drawings made entirely by walking through fields of freshly laid snow with snowshoes.  Beck, who has a degree in engineering from Oxford University is also a professional mapmaker. Before creating these other worldly designs, Simon takes to drawing each geometric pattern.  These drawings are then put to memory so he does not have to refer to any diagram as he stomps out each pattern. The result is impressive forms of beauty and mystery that last for a fleeting moment in time.

Well done, Mr. Beck.
